A 10-year-old girl who went missing in Louisiana was found safe in the woods after she wandered away from her home, thanks to thermal imaging drones.
According to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, Peyton Saintignan disappeared right after her bedtime on September 14. She was last seen wearing blue pajamas and no shoes. A trail camera later captured her walking through a wooded area.
Law enforcement and hundreds of volunteers launched an extensive search on September 15, which continued late into the night. The girl was eventually located in dense woods roughly 300 yards from where the trail camera had spotted her earlier that morning.
Drone footage showed the young girl curled up on the forest floor, missing one shoe, before rescuers woke her and carried her to safety.
Drone Management Services LLC, based in Magnolia, Arkansas, joined the search effort when a company member heard about the missing girl from a family member, offering their drones equipped with thermal imaging technology to assist in the search.
