A recently released drone image showcases the extensive nature of a fire and the significant challenges faced by firefighting teams as they worked to control the blaze near the A494 in Queensferry on Friday the 8th November.
The fire broke out on Riverside Way in Queensferry and was reported to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service shortly before 8:30 p.m., prompting the deployment of several fire units to combat the flames.
The police played an essential role in the operation, handling road closures and coordinating with highway authorities. Their response included deploying a drone with thermal imaging capabilities, providing vital support to fire command teams.
The drone operator supplied thermal imaging that allowed Fire Commanders to assess the fire’s scope. The thermal imaging helped identify hotspots, enabling firefighters to direct their water transport efforts and focus on critical areas of the fire.
The drone image revealed a significant expanse of flames on open land near the Queensferry water treatment facility.
Emergency services followed the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) to coordinate a cohesive response for managing the large-scale situation.
An investigation to determine the cause is set to begin.
