Teledyne FLIR Launches Advanced Hadron 640 Series for Better Integration in Unmanned Systems

Enhanced Dual Thermal-Visible Cameras for Superior Performance and Efficiency

Teledyne FLIR has introduced the latest models in its high-performance Hadron 640 series, which include the ITAR-free Hadron 640+ and the radiometric Hadron 640R+. These modules boast enhanced thermal sensitivity and are optimized for SWaP, making them ideal for integration into UAS, UGV, robotic platforms, and AI-driven applications powered by Teledyne FLIR Prism™ software.

Michael Walters, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR, highlighted the benefits of the Hadron 640 series: “The Hadron 640 series offers integrators the chance to deploy AI-ready, high-performance dual-camera modules in small unmanned systems where SWaP, performance, runtime, and battery life are crucial.” He also emphasized the advantages of Prism AI detection, tracking, and classification models, noting that they provide “super-resolution, turbulence mitigation, contrast enhancement, and more, enabling effective AI-based applications.”

The new Hadron 640 modules are equipped with a 640 x 512 resolution Boson+ longwave infrared (LWIR) camera module, featuring thermal sensitivity of 20 millikelvin (mK) or better. This allows for effective operation in complete darkness, smoke, fog, and glare, ensuring continuous operational awareness. The Hadron 640R+ model provides accurate temperature measurements for every pixel in the scene. Additionally, the 64MP visible camera in the Hadron 640 series allows for the capture of both thermal and visible images in one compact module.

George Matus, CTO of Red Cat, praised the collaboration with Teledyne FLIR, saying, “Our ongoing partnership with Teledyne FLIR facilitates rapid innovation in payload and performance for Teal drones, speeding up market entry and equipping warfighters with the best technology for operational success.” He added that the Hadron 640 series delivers “enhanced thermal sensitivity and HD visible cameras, offering superior performance in a compact package to support our NATO allies and the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance Tranche 2 program.”

To help integrators and OEM product developers streamline development and cut costs, the Hadron 640 series is available as a complete system from a single supplier. This package includes drivers for leading processors from NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and others, along with comprehensive integration support and service from Teledyne FLIR experts.

All Hadron 640 series products are classified under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Commerce and are available for global purchase through Teledyne FLIR and its authorized dealers.
