Flyability Unveils Flammable Gas Detection Sensor for Elios 3 Drone

Swiss-based drone company Flyability has introduced a new add-on for their Elios 3 drone: a flammable gas sensor developed in collaboration with NevadaNano, a prominent company in advanced gas detection technologies with more than two decades of industry expertise.

This sensor can identify more than 14 types of combustible gases with a 0.1% lower explosive limit (LEL) precision, enabling it to detect both the type of gas and its concentration. Although Flyability emphasizes that this addition boosts safety, the sensor itself does not make the drone ATEX certified. The device is intended as an extra layer of safety, working alongside established flammable gas precautions. With real-time readings available during flight, the sensor provides essential data to help pilots make informed decisions.

This sensor enables Elios 3 pilots to operate with enhanced safety. When our drones are used in hazardous environments, they can encounter combustible gases not easily detectable from outside. Now, with this gas sensor, pilots have access to real-time data in complex situations, contributing to safer missions.

The MPS™ sensor’s precision in detecting a broad range of gases, along with its resistance to saturation and poisoning, is essential for improving safety in high-risk areas.

Flyability has announced that the new gas sensor will be available for Elios 3 users by the end of 2024.
