Vantage Robotics has launched Trace, a compact nano drone designed for discreet aerial reconnaissance. Weighing just 153 grams, Trace is equipped with a multi-camera system and can operate for up to 30 minutes on a single battery charge.
Trace was developed to serve the needs of clients in national security, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure management. Despite its small size, the US-made drone offers capabilities typically found in larger ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) systems, but at a significantly lower cost than many competitors.
The drone’s ultra-lightweight design, combined with its ability to fly both indoors and outdoors, expands its usability across a range of environments with minimal risk. Additionally, Trace offers unparalleled covert reconnaissance capabilities, thanks to its low noise profile and gimbal-stabilized 48MP visible light camera, along with a 320x240p thermal camera with 24x zoom. A 640×480 infrared version is expected to be released soon.
Trace features several patent-pending design innovations, including the proprietary Poplar radio that supports a range of up to 2 km, as well as a robust folding airframe made from titanium and carbon fiber. These advances allow the drone to achieve impressive flight times.
